Division for services for the Blind
Our mission is to work in partnership with these Arkansans by assisting them in obtaining the information they need to make informed choices and by providing them with access to services that increase their opportunities to live as they choose.
Within the constraints of state and federal laws and based on available funds, the Division of Services for the Blind fulfills its mission through the following goals:
Employment – To assist Arkansans who are blind or visually impaired to secure or maintain employment that is consistent with their skills, abilities, and interests.
Rehabilitation Teaching – To assist Arkansans who are blind or visually impaired to live as independently as possible through the development of skills, accommodations, or adaptations that are necessary to perform all activities of daily living.
Prevention of Blindness – To assist in preventing blindness by stabilizing vision and, where possible, restoring vision.

Library Services for the Blind and Print Disabled
The Library for the Blind and Print Disabled at the Arkansas State Library is the local network operator of the National Library Service at the Library of Congress.
The National Library Service (NLS) is a free library service for people with temporary or permanent low vision, blindness, or a physical disability that prevents them from reading or holding the printed page.
Eligible patrons may receive books and magazines in braille or audio format, through free mail delivery or digital download

Assistive Technology of Alaska (ATLA)
Alaska's only comprehensive assistive technology (AT) resource center. Our statewide services are available for Alaskans of all ages and disabilities, or for those who are recovering from an injury or illness and need temporary solutions. ATLA's experienced staff is ready to help explore equipment from the beginning to the end of the process. Assistive Technology Specialists help identify equipment options, features, and modifications for your purpose at school, work, or in life.
